CARES Overview

Building on the California Student Wellness Index, the Comprehensive Assessment of Resilience and Emotional Strengths (CARES) was developed. This 27-item universal wellness screener merges the CSWI, the Social Emotional Health Survey, and the School Connectedness Scale. The result is an efficient tool that supports students’ positive development. Validation and normative data are based on a sample of over 500,000 California students in grades 6 through 12. CARES is a valuable resource for enhancing data-informed efforts to promote student well-being.
